Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I feed my pets healthy, all natural food vs. grocery store brands?

The pet food in grocery store and big-box retailer stores often contains by-products, artificial colors, and chemical preservatives such as BHA, BHT and Ethoxyquin that can be harmful to your four-legged friends. Grocery store brands also contain common allergens such as corn, wheat and soy; most of our foods don’t contain these grains. Many of our pet foods contain meat and fish that is free-range and hormone-free and processed in North American facilities that have rigorous standards and testing. Our foods also contain a healthy balance of fruits and vegetables which grocery store brands frequently do not contain.

Which brand of dog food is best for my dog or cat?

Every dog or cat is different and may have different nutritional needs according to their age, weight, activity level, health and breed. Our knowledgeable staff can help you determine what foods may be most beneficial for your pet.

We also stay up to date on what the best foods are that are currently available and receive high ratings from trusted sources such as Whole Dog Journal.  In order to receive a wide range of benefits from a variety of foods, we recommend switching your dog’s or cat’s food frequently.

How much should I feed my pet?

As above, each pet’s optimal amount of food is best determined by age, weight, health, activity level and other factors.  We usually recommend starting with the manufacturer’s recommendations on the package and adjusting from that point.  Remember: the more overweight your dog or cat, the greater the long-term health risks, so it is important to closely watch your animal friend’s weight and food intake particularly if their activity level changes and as they age.  It's important to always consider the amount of treats that your dog or cat receives while determining how much food he or she should receive. And it’s best to keep your natural pet foods tightly sealed either in their original packaging or in an approved food-safe container.
